Whoo Will Be my Valentine? {Owl Themed Valentine Party}

Valentine's Day Owl Party!Whoo’s ready for Valentine’s Day?!?!  I just think this Valentine’s Day Owl Themed Party pack is a HOOT!  It was so much fun coming up with the Owl Bag that you just have to attach to a brown lunch sack and you have an inexpensive but fun Valentine’s card catcher!

I’m also a huge advocate for healthy/healthier treats at school when possible (I know some schools are banned from having treats at all).  If you are allowed to bring food here are some of my favorite Valentine’s Day healthy snacks!

Our healthy treats are strawberry smoothies, valentines chex mix and heart shaped fruit skewers.

Our healthy valentine’s treats are strawberry smoothies, valentines chex mix and heart-shaped fruit skewers.

My kids always love the strawberry smoothies we even tried to cut strawberries in half one year and stick them on the side of the cup so it would look like a heart…that didn’t exactly work out too well for us, but hey it might for you!

If you’d like the recipe to print off for your students or to use in your classroom just click the picture below.  This recipe serves 2 so if you are making a batch for your whole classroom you’ll have to adjust it accordingly.  Enjoy!

The chex mix was gluten-free and had special gluten-free red m&m type candies in it. YUM!  Then our fruit skewers were suppose to be watermelon, but for some reason that didn’t work out (maybe they weren’t in season in our area?) so a creative room parent came up with cutting strawberries to look like hearts.  Notice how the orange slices are shaped like arrows!!

I have two Valentine’s Day packets to share with you today.  The first one is my newest “Whoo Will be My Valentine? {Owl Themed Party Pack}”  I included several options and colors where necessary to give the option for boys as well as the girls!

100th Day of School Fun & Owl Themed 100th Day

100th Day Collage done

The 100th Day of School has been one of my favorite days of the year.  There’s so much excitement about this day from kids bringing in their collections of 100 items to dressing up and doing 100’s of activities (not to mention it marks a place on the calendar to remind you that you’re over half-way through the year, exciting for students and teachers alike)!

I love to go all out on the 100th Day and I found these amazing ideas on Pinterest to share.

1.  Build a 100 Cup Structure  How much fun would this be?  You could even have two stations set up and have a little competition to see who could build a structure first that doesn’t fall over.

2.  100 Snack This looks like a tasty treat to pass out to your kiddos using Chips Ahoy and Vienna Fingers. Yum!

3. 100 Hands Heart This is such a neat idea especially being so close to Valentine’s Day!

4. 100 Number Art I have done this for the last few years and love it!  We had a die cut machine last year which made it really easy.  It’s so interesting to see what the kids come up with.

5. 100th Day Door Decor  I love this!  The kids would be so excited to come and see something like this hanging from your door when they first get to school.

6. 100 Fingers Art This is a great activity to practice up on skip counting and to get a little messy!

7. 100 Years Old I just love all of the art you can do with kids that have them imagine themselves when they are 100 years old.

One other favorite activity I’ve done is to flip the idea of dressing up as a 100-year-old (other classrooms did this in my school and I was wanting to change it up a little) and to have the students dress up like it was 100 years ago.

100th Day 100 Years ago

Aren’t these two the cutest?  They are dressing as if they were in 1912.  So darling!!

If you’re looking for fun decorations and activities to do for the 100th Day that are Owl themed I’ve created a “Look Whoo’s 100 Days Smarter!” Celebration Pack!

100th Day Owl Blog Pic

I just love this pack!  It has a fun owl headband, 100 Days Smarter Certificates, Owl Activity Packet, Owl Badges, 100th Day Banner and more!

Groundhog Day Activities {Pop-up Craft, Mini-book and More!}

Image

I have to be honest, I’m really hoping that Punxsutawney Phil does not see his shadow this year!  I love warm weather and I’m already ready for some sunny days and gardening.

I created this Groundhog Day Unit as a fun way for students to learn some facts about groundhogs and make an enjoyable craft at the same time.  I almost squealed with delight the first time I had the groundhog pop in and back out of his burrow with the craft stick.

There is a groundhog reader included that has an easy reader version and a little more advanced version.  I love having the options to challenge more advanced readers while meeting the needs of the up and coming readers as well!

Here’s what you’ll find inside:

*”All About Groundhogs” Non-fiction mini-book (2 different leveled books, 2 styles- 1 with illustrations/1 without)

i have a dream mlk character craftivity

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day I’ve created a character craftivity!  I absolutely love the quote by Dr. King where he says “…they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”  During this MLK craft and printables students will explore different attributes that make up good character, discussing why it’s important not to judge others on their outside appearance.

Included in the sale will be my newest 7 Habits Craftivity “Put First Things First {7 Habit Craftivity #3}”.

work first then play preview pics.001In this 7 Habits Craftivity students will learn to “work first, then play!”  Included in this unit are:

-”First Things First” Craft Templates & Directions

-Writing Prompt Page & Cutouts {“First Things First” Prompt and work/play cutouts} (2 sheets to differentiate learning)

-Work First, Then Play “TO-DO List”

This is a great craft that helps students prioritize their tasks and decipher between work and play.  The goal is to help them put those first things (not always the most fun, but the most necessary) first and then they can really enjoy their down time or fun time.

Enjoy the Sale!

Nativity Themed Math Centers

Welcome Baby Jesus {Nativity Themed Math Centers and Activities} Religious/Bible Based Centers

I absolutely ENJOY Math Centers!  I know the kids do too.  There’s something so great about turning the concepts you’re learning about into more of a fun game, then a required workbook page.

During the year it seems easy to find centers based on Seasons and Holidays, but I find it difficult to find many Bible based centers.  That’s why I came up with “Welcome Baby Jesus! {Nativity Themed Math Centers and Activities}”.  These are fun centers that hit Math concepts that students need to be learning in 1st and 2nd Grades and have the characters represented from the first Christmas like Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, Shepherds and more.

Bible based center activities

Here’s what you’ll find inside:

* “Welcome Baby Jesus!” Nativity Counting Mini-Book and Class Book Idea

* Magi Skip Counting (Count by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s)

* Sheepish Doubles (Adding doubles 1-9)

*“Time” to Follow the Star (Telling time to the hour and half hour)

* Silent Night Sums (Addition)

* Donkey Differences (Subtraction)

*Addition and Subtraction True and False

The fun thing is, these don’t even have to be only for your students, you can give them for your own kids, grandkids, church kids.

Enjoy sharing the greatest story on earth about Jesus’ birth in a fun, cross-curricular way!

Blessings,

Michaela Peterson 🙂
